Cota Cero' (literally 'Sea level') Dive
Centre is situated in Puerto de Mazarron,
province of Murcia, on the Costa Calida
(warm coast) of the sunny, Mediterranean
south east corner of Spain - 350 days of
sunshine each year, but very little rain.
This is a 5 Star Gold Palm Instructor Development
Centre
Our dive centre is on the
front line of the port which has recently
been undergoing a complete multi million
euro redevelopment. The Bay of Mazarron
is increasing in popularity as a tourist
destination, unpolluted air and clean sea,
with a fantastic variety of of marine fauna
and flora make this a most attractive resort
for scuba diving and snorkelling.However,
compared with the more lively 'Costas' the
area is relatively undeveloped.
Cota Cero opened in 2001 and
is jointly Spanish and British owned, this
is reflected in many regular Spanish and
British diving customers. Amongst the staff
a variety of languages are spoken, Spanish,
English, German and Czech which ensures
that phrase books and sign language (on
the surface) are not needed. Our well qualified
team's priority is to provide you with a
safe personal service, we have a 'family
friendly' policy and will always aim to
incorporate the needs of everyone.
‘Cota
Cero’ is situated on the front line
of the new central marina in Puerto de Mazarron,
adjacent to the quay.
Within the centre are male
and female changing / shower / toilet facilities,
classroom, kit storage and servicing, cylinder
charging (air and Nitrox), wash down areas
and sales / hire of diving equipment and
a chandler’s store.
During your stay in the area
your personal equipment can be safely stored
at no extra charge.Due to the wonderful
climate the ‘chill out’ area
is outside on our terrace, overlooking the
bay and harbour, next door to our neighbouring
bar and restaurant who are more than happy
to serve you where you relax and enjoy the
view and port activity.
We can count more than 15
different dive sites here, with varying
profiles of rocks, sand, caves, walls etc.
They are from 5 minutes to 40 minutes away,
and from 5 metres in depth.
What will you see?
In addition to the beautiful undersea corals
and fauna you can see moray and conger eels,
octopus, barracuda, scorpion fish, dentex,
groupers, sea bream, star fish… and
if you are lucky you might see sun fish,
turtles and dolphins as well as giant pearls
and sometimes large tuna if you are in the
right place.
Other Dives while the most
frequntly used dive sites have been listed
here all along the coast, both sides of
the bay are other interesting locations
suitable to dive of differing depths.
There are also several other
dive sites in the region. Just 4 km from
the port, in the neighbouring village of
Isla Plana, is a long wet cave system only
for highly experienced and well equipped
cave divers - we can arrange diving here
for those suitably qualified.
Less than an hour by road
to the south the port of Aguillas offers
a range of totally different dives.
An hour east brings us to Cabo de Pallos
where you can access the marine reserve
of Islas Hormigas (Ant Islands), beautiful
shore dives (if you like steps!) and some
fairly deep (50 - 60 m) wrecks.
We would be pleased to introduce
you to our associate dive centres and arrange
your dives in these areas.
